April 7, 2011…The 38th Annual Capital Classic is just days away from being played where some of the top ranked high school basketball players will be making the trip to the Nation’s capital to compete in this prestigious game.

Going back to 2000, there was a lot of hype surrounding one of the participating players at that time. In fact, he was drawing comparisons to the game’s then title sponsor. Tamir Goodman aka “The Jewish Jordan.”

The Capital Classic recently caught up with Goodman, the game’s co-MVP in 2000, who recently retired from the game of basketball after a career that included playing professionally overseas in Israel.

CC: How was your experience playing in this game?
TG: It was a great experience, in addition to the game I enjoyed the week of practice before the game as well as the off the court activities.

CC: You played in the game when there was a lot of hype surrounding you. How was the media attention during the weekend?
TG: There was a lot of media attention. I was just appreciative to be in the moment to be surrounded by such great players and coaches and it allowed me to stay focused on basketball.

CC: How does the Capital Classic game rank in comparison to all of the all-star games you played in high school?
TG: My favorite one!

CC: You were named MVP of the game. How did this achievement help you in your basketball career?
TG: It proved that I could compete with the best.

CC: What was your favorite part of the Capital Classic weekend outside of the game?
TG: Practice the week before the game, and getting to meet Coach Wooten.

CC: Do you still keep in touch with players that played in the game that year with you?
TG: Yes on facebook.

CC: How did it feel to be selected to play in this game?
TG: I was very excited to participate in a game that featured so many amazing players.

CC: What advice would you give to the players playing in the game this year?
TG: Not to take one second for granted.
