Coach Lou Wilson - Riverdale Baptist
As a former graduate of Howard University, Coach Louis Wilson began his collegiate career playing for the Bison’s where he helped guide the team to a NCAA Tournament bid in 1981. He also coached for 2 years as an assistant at his Alma Mater.
Wilson made his debut as a head basketball coach at Frederick Douglass High School and within 3 years he directed his team to a County Championship. Regional Championship and State Finalist in 1986.
Coach Wilson then went on to coach 12 seasons at Largo High School, compiling 168 wins and 63 losses with 5 County Championships and one State Championship in 1993.
Coach Wilson moved on down the road to Riverdale Baptist School where he was determined to keep the Crusaders rolling down the path of victory. During the 2000-2001 season, the team concluded with a record of 21 wins and 8 losses, and Wilson earned the Independent School Division Coach of the Year honor. Coach Wilson has earned numerous awards, but none more impressive than in 1999 when he coached in the McDonald’s Capital Classic and in 1997 when he was named Junior National Coach of the Year. The most recent accolade was from Prince County Gazette naming him the 2000-2010 Coach of the Decade.
Now in his tenth year as head coach of the Riverdale Baptist School, Wilson guided the 2008-2009 Crusaders to another NACA National title in Dayton, Tennessee with a record of 26 – 6. There were other good season but the best may have been the back to back national tournament championship wins in 2003-2004 NASA in Erie, Pennsylvania and winning another Championship in 2004-2005 and going 33 and 1 and was named NACA National Coach of the Year.
