Washington, D.C.  (April 2, 2012) Bob Geoghan, Founder of the Capital Classic, has announced the rosters for the marquee game (US All-Stars vs. Capital All-Stars) for the 39th Capital Classic, the annual high school boys’ basketball All-Star game, which will be played on Saturday, April 21, 2011 at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA.
The Capital Classic is the longest running high school basketball All-Star game in the country and since 1974 it has been a beacon in the Washington, DC community, showcasing some of the nation’s top high school basketball talent. The game has become a steppingstone for many college All-Americans, NBA All-Stars and Pro Basketball Hall of Fame recipients, such as Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Grant Hill, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Dwight Howard.

The Capital All-Stars will be coached by Episcopal’s Jim Fitzpatrick and will feature some of the top players in the area. Episcopal’s Arnaud Adata-Moto leads the way and the 6’5 guard/forward has committed to Wake Forest for next season. Justin Anderson (Montrose Christian) will play for Virginia next year while George Washington fans will get a glimpse of two players for next year. Kethan Savage (Episcopal) and Joe McDonald (Landon) both guards will play for the Colonials next season. Patrick Holloway from Paul VI will suit up for George Mason.

The US All-Stars will be coached Patterson High School coach Harry Martin. The University of Maryland will be well represented in this game. Sam Cassell, Jr. (Notre Dame Prep), Charles Mitchell (Wheeler HS), Seth Allen (Fredericksburg Christian), Damonte Dodd (Queen Anne’s County) and Shaquille Cleare (The Village School) will all be heading to College Park next season. Andrew White (Miller Prep) will be a Jayhawk as he heads to Lawrence to play for Kansas while Joel James (Dwyer) will play at UNC next season. Virginia will have both Mike Tobey (Blair Academy) and Evan Nolte (Milton) playing for the US All-Stars.

The annual high school girl’s doubleheader has returned to the Capital Classic’s lineup and will be played on Saturday, April 21, 2011 at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria. The first game will be at noon and will feature Maryland versus Virginia. Oakton’s Fred Priester will lead the Virginia squad and Adrian McDaniel (Gaithersburg HS) will coach Maryland. Both of their respective schools won state titles last year. At 2 p.m. the Prep/Privates led by Holy Cross head coach Eddie Simpson will take on Interhigh, coached by Craig Gilbeaux of Coolidge. Rosters for this doubleheader will be available on the website early next week.
