Bart & Associates, Inc. Extends Capital Classic Partnership
American University to host 37th Annual Game on April 15th
Baltimore, Md. – Sports America, Inc. and Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today Bart & Associates, Inc. (B&A) will continue its role as the Presenting Sponsor of the 37th annual Capital Classic. The nation’s most storied high school basketball all-star game will showcase the best boys talent in the United States and the D.C. metro area on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 8 p.m. and will be held at American University.
This marks the second consecutive year Bart & Associates will be a part of an event that has seen more than 125 players go on to play in the NBA. This year’s rosters will be announced the week of March 19th.
“B&A believes in supporting the youth of our community in any way possible, and we are proud to continue our support of this D.C. institution,” said Vince Bartozzi, President, Bart & Associates.
CSE and Sports America, who own and operate the event, are thrilled to have Bart & Associates on board with the Capital Classic once again.
“Thanks to Bart and Associates the game will continue to deliver a dream. The Capital Classic has unquestionably produced some of the biggest names in the game. This year’s rosters will be filled with recruits headed to local Division I programs so this will be the first look at the future stars for many area fans,” said Lee Corrigan, President, CSE.
From its prominent beginning in 1974, the Capital Classic has introduced fans to the next generation of superstars. The greats including Moses Malone, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins have all participated in the Capital Classic, as well as the new age All-Stars of Lebron James, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony.
The game will be preceded by a 6 p.m. contest featuring District All-Stars versus Suburban All-Stars.

Capital All-Stars Dominate US All-Stars in the 36th Annual Capital Classic
The Capital All-Stars dominated the inside game, scoring 80 points in the paint, compared to the US team that had 38. Mouphtaou Yarou, a 6-10 center heading to Villanova, led the Capital team with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Derrick Thomas, a Drexel signee, pitched in 16 points on 4-4 shooting from three point range. The US team was paced by John Jenkins who scored a game high 27 points. Jenkins will suit up for Vanderbilt next season. Momo Jones, who has reopened his recruiting, finished with 18 points in 21 minutes.
The District All-Stars team was down eight at half, but rallied to beat the Suburban All-Stars 113-104. Rafriel Guthrie of Cardozo HS helped the late run, scoring 17 points in the game. PJ Miller (The Potomac School) and Lawrence Smith (McNamara) each scored 14 points for the District Team. The Suburban All-Stars were led by Keith Mitchell of Hylton HS, who had 17 points and Frank Holloway (Lee) with 16 points.

» Armwood's Dunk Makes ESPN's Top Play of the Night
Isaiah Armwood scored three perfect scores to win the 2009 Slam Dunk Champion after jumping over 7 people including 6'10" Mouphtaou Yarou. Armwood's 50 point final dunk bested Ian Hummer (Gonzaga HS) with 45 points and Tristan Spurlock's (Word of Life Academy) 39. Check the highlights here.
John Jenkins (US Team) had the hot hand, winning the Three Point Contest in an extra round shoot-off with Jamal Coombs-McDaniel. Percy Wood (District All-Stars) put up 11 points in the finals but the two US teammates each scored 13. In the Tie-Breaker, Jenkins made 12 shots in 30 seconds to top Coombs-McDaniel's 8.
